BES Book Blast

As a part of their Book Blast, every student at Benton Elementary went home with at least one book this week to help create their own home library.

Kids are reading less and screen time is increasing. On a mission to put books in front of students, Benton Elementary teamed up with "Books Are Fun" to start a book enrichment program – Book Blast.

With its innovative approach to creating more book worms, Book Blast guarantees at least one new book into the hands of every student at absolutely no cost to the school, little work from the school team, and no financial requirement of the parents.

In two short weeks, with the help of the community (far and wide), the students at Benton Elementary School earned 1,480 brand new, age-appropriate books!

Principal Lorrie Shadowen said, "We understand the importance of just getting kids to read. A big part of doing that is getting books in the hands of kids. We're thrilled to make sure every student from Preschool to 5th grade went home with at least one book to start their own home library."
