Marshal Male Conf.

The 2nd Annual Marshall Male Conference was held Friday at Twin Lakes Worship Center in Draffenville. The conference is a component of Marshall County School District's Gifted and Talented Program.

While our Female Leadership Forum takes place each spring for gifted females 4th-12th grades, the MMC occurs each fall for gifted males 4th-12th grades. This is the only opportunity for gifted males across the district to come together and use their individual intellectual, academic, and creative strengths during various activities. Jason Jones, President of CFSB, was the guest speaker.

The MMC is planned and implemented by the Student Leadership class at Marshall County High School. All aspects of the conference are decided by the students in the Leadership class. They make decisions that include catering, decorating, designing t-shirts, recruiting sponsors, and all paperwork and logistics from seating charts to bus lists, and communicating with administrators across the district. Every task and activity at the conference, including the highly popular newspaper fashion show, promotes leadership skills that include effective communication and collaboration, critical and creative thinking, problem-solving, flexibility, and organization for effective work flow.

We want to thank all of our sponsors who helped make this conference possible.
