We are happy to announce that Josh Mullins, a member of the Sharpe Elementary site-based decision making (SBDM) committee, has been accepted as a CIPL Fellowship with The Prichard Committee. Mullins is serving his second year on SBDM and has one child at Sharpe Elementary.
The Commonwealth Institute for Parent Leadership (CIPL) offers a comprehensive approach to engaging and developing leadership among families, schools, and communities in Kentucky. Its goal is to enhance the academic success of Kentucky students and support the advancement of the state’s public schools.
The CIPL Fellowship provides participants with insights into Kentucky’s education system and current key topics aimed at improving student success. Fellows achieve their status by completing webinars, networking opportunities, community leadership activities, and statewide events. The Fellowship offers a chance to connect with like-minded individuals, collaborate on local initiatives, share valuable resources, and develop strong peer relationships for mutual support.
"Josh is the true definition of a parent that genuinely cares about all students in our school family," said Sharpe Elementary Principal Aretta Terry. "He is eager, yet humble in the way that he serves and loves our school. I am so excited that he has taken this opportunity to extend his impact and be a voice for more families within our community."
The Fellowship is open to all parents, guardians, mentors, and community members across Kentucky who support K-12 public school students and wish to enhance their role as education advocates. A CIPL Fellow is committed to the importance of public education for Kentucky’s economic and social well-being, advocates for equity and excellence from early childhood through postsecondary education, and strives to help all students succeed.
