Cory Westerfield will serve as the head coach for the boys program.

Westerfield currently serves as the head coach for the MCHS Girls Track and Field Team, since 2005. Previous to being the head coach, he coached middle school track and middle school cross country for eight years. Westerfield brings a wealth of experience to the job through the relationships that he has built with the community as well as other area and regional coaches .

“I feel like a great foundation was built early on over the years for a successful program here at MCHS. All the coaches have continued to build on that success and that’s all I hope to do. We have a great tradition here and I just want to continue it. With the core of kids coming back from last year’s team, I believe we can make a run at the regional title. I look forward to getting to work with the team!” says Westerfield.

On the girls side, familiar face Chris Kerrick will take over the program. Kerrick has been coaching cross-country for thirty years, bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge.

“I am truly thankful for the chance to again work with such talented, motivated, and inspiring young ladies. It is a joy to see each and every one of them not only improve and reach their goals but also grow in their confidence. The commitment to fostering an environment where all young athletes feel supported, encouraged, and valued is at the core of my coaching philosophy. The ultimate goal is to empower these young ladies to reach their fullest potential and carry these lessons into all aspects of their lives because running is so much more than a sport,” Kerrick said.
