FFA students presenting during BOE meeting

March 17-21 is the first state-wide Agriculture Education Week in Kentucky.

To highlight this week, members of the Marshall County FFA spoke during the Board of Education meeting on Thursday, touting the accomplishments of the district's Ag Ed Department and FFA.

The group talked about classroom and lab learning, which includes three pathways for agriculture students (horticulture, animal science, and agriculture mechanics.) They say supervised agriculture experiences are also beneficial by focusing on hands-on, learning opportunities where students apply what they've learned in the classroom to real-world agriculture activities.

FFA members told the board about their highly successful service projects (elementary Ag day, Ag safety day, and career day), Ag education projects (FFA camp, state convention, and Washington leadership conference), and successes in regional and state competitions.

The group also encouraged any elementary or middle school student interested in learning more about these programs to contact Jourdan Palmeri at MCTC for more information.
